Let there be Light

 Light

Reflection

A reflector is basically anything that you are able to see. For example, a book, lightwaves bounce off the book and reflect what you are able to see. Another example would be the moon. This is different from the other example, as the sunlight reflects the moon, thus creating moonlight. This is different from a source of light, which is light that directly shines from what is creating it.

Sources

Light sources, for example, would be a torch. Light is emitted from the torch, not reflected. The sun too, would mean the same. Other examples of a source include fire, TV screens and fireworks

Light Pollution

You may have heard of air pollution,  but light pollution can be just as severe. Just imagine, you are trying to sleep at 1AM, but flashing neon lights in buildings near keep you awake. This can also be very harmful to eyes. This is a huge issue in Hong Kong, the home of the neon sign. I have addressed this issue in a previous article on this blog, be sure to check it out after you have read this.

Bioluminescence

Bioluminescent creatures are animals that emit light when it is too dark. For instance, Fireflies, or Anglerfish in the deep dark depths of the ocean blue. Once, a beach was covered with bioluminescent algae, and appeared to glow. It was all over social media, which just goes to show how beautiful our mother nature is !

Lightwaves

Light is a form of radiation. There are many kinds of light including UV, Infrared and Visible. As the name suggests, Visible light is the only one that can be seen by the human eye. Each beam of light is a "wave" Each having a different length between. The spectrum shows that the longer the wave, there is a difference to how it is classified into types. I:e Gamma

Artificial/Natural light

Artificial light would be a type of light that is created by humans purposely. i:e TV screens or a torch. Natural light is when light is created by mother nature, such as fire or the sun. A candle is an outlier, as the candle itself is artificial, but the fire is mother nature.

Fun Fact

Light is so fast that it takes only Eight minutes to travel 147.79 million km from the sun to the Earth. That meant, if the sun exploded now, due to the delay, we would still have  eight minutes of light left ! That means, that if you fly at the speed of light, you would indeed time travel. I’m better off sticking with normal aeroplanes now ! Haha
