How Science Connects Us

  1. Technology

Alexander Graham Bell first invented the telephone in 1876 , where they had to be attached to a  board, in a public location where people could call. They were big and bulky, and were hard to communicate with. Fast forward 130 years, we carry these small rectangles, which we can easily communicate with people thousands of miles away, conveniently and quickly. These small rectangles have evolved into big rectangles, with video chat, so we can see each other’s faces and chat.  Look Back to the last three years, where we had to call each other to work as a group, which was super inconvenient, as we missed out on a lot of work, and our eyes were sore by the end. At least, we could see each other and Interact. 20 years before, in the SARS Pandemic,we had to miss out on earning altogether, as there was no such technology.

  1. Innovation and Science in Transport

Around a hundred years ago,If you wanted to meet someone , you would have to find a place on a ship, which was unlikely, followed  by the huge travel time,  which could take up to several months, only to come back in a week which is crazy compared to the travel time. In modern times, anyone could book a flight, which at most would take a day, followed by a week with friends, then back. In a hundred years, Month to day. Crazy times. With new technology by aerospace agencies, our max travel time in fifty years, with hypersonic flight would be around five hours only.

  1. Medicine and Genetics, Antibiotics to Chromosomes

In the field of Medicine and Genetics, Connections are key, two different types. The first type has many examples. Here are some: The doctor interacting with the patient, trying to treat him/her, The doctor calling up a medicine company to order more, and the team of nurses and doctors, and hospital staff all working together to help a patient who is gravely ill. The second type, would be like oxygen from the lungs connecting into the capillaries, mixing with the blood. Different organs connecting into organ systems, different genes like hair and eye colour connecting to make up a person, and different antibiotics make a kind of medicine !

  1. How the magnificent world of Science brings the world together.

The world of science has the power to unite people from all corners of the globe. It transcends borders, language barriers, and cultural differences, and brings us all together in the pursuit of knowledge. Scientific achievements, such as the Saturn V moon rocket launch, have the ability to captivate and inspire people from all walks of life.

The Saturn V moon rocket launch of 1969 was a defining moment in human history. It marked the first time that humans had set foot on another solid space body, and it inspired a generation of scientists, engineers, and explorers. The launch was watched by millions of people around the world, who were united in their awe and wonder at the sheer scale of the achievement.

But the power of science to bring people together extends far beyond the space race. Advances in medicine, technology, and engineering have the potential to transform the lives of people everywhere. From the development of life-saving vaccines to the creation of sustainable energy sources, scientific progress has the power to benefit humanity as a whole.

The CoronaVirus pandemic has highlighted the importance of global scientific collaboration. Scientists from around the world have been working tirelessly to develop vaccines, treatments, and testing methods to combat the virus. The rapid development of several highly effective vaccines in record time is a testament to the power of global scientific cooperation.

In conclusion, the world of science has the power to bring people together like few other things can. Whether it's the launch of a moon rocket or the development of life-saving medical treatments, scientific achievements have the ability to inspire and unite us all. As we face the challenges of the future, it is important that we continue to embrace the power of science and work together to create a better world for all.

  1. Science is connected and intertwined in almost every single aspect of our lives

Everywhere you go, you will see at some point science connected, jumbled into the mix. Cars and vehicles, technology of how food was made, and even advanced plastic bottles that can disintegrate, not leaving waste and landing in the Waste dump, or landing in the ocean, allowing an innocent sea animal to die. This just goes to show how important science is , in and out of the world, and how science manages to sneak a spot in every time.

Let us end with a beautiful quote by the high Buddhist Monk, Dalai Lama of Tibet.

“Our ancient experience confirms at every point that everything is linked together, everything is inseparable.” – 14th Dalai Lama
